Bookmark Content and Communications is looking for a dynamic Senior Editor to join our team at our Montreal office.

Bookmark is a full-service global marketing agency that combines content and communications to create multi-platform programs for luxury and lifestyle brands, such as Air Canada, Lindt and Tourism Toronto. Our content is distributed in more than 180 countries worldwide; we pride ourselves on our understanding of local cultures on a global platform.

As our French Senior Editor, you’ll be responsible to ideate, produce and deliver innovative content that enriches the Air Canada enRoute audience experience. The Senior Editor assigns, edits and writes feature stories and columns, along with maintaining editorial quality across every Air Canada enRoute touchpoint.

Responsibilities

  • Ideate and research story ideas on an on-going basis; ensure Air Canada enRoute stays on top of trends, openings and more; contribute ideas at all story and brainstorm meetings.
  • Develop, commission and edit stories, with a strong focus on features and packages.
  • Contribute to the publication with feature writing.
  • Grow and maintain a roster of international writers; scout new talent.
  • Vet and shape story ideas from junior staff and keep an eye on the front-of-book lineup.
  • Uphold the French tone and voice across all platforms; assist the Digital Editor for online display copy in French.
  • Handle French inside checklists, and enter fact-checking and copy-editing changes on French-language files.
  • Other Responsibilities
  • Innovate and experiment with new forms for storytelling in collaboration with the Executive Editor, the Art Director and the Editor-in-Chief.
  • Liaise with the Managing Editor to maintain the editorial calendar.
  • Foster and grow relationships with PR representatives around the world.
  • Represent Air Canada enRoute at industry events.
  • Travel as needed for both internal and external meetings and events.
  • Participate and support business development efforts on behalf of the agency, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Five years’ experience in content creation, preferably in a media environment, and published clips demonstrating exceptional storytelling.
  • Experience handling English-to-French translations.
  • An impeccable grasp of the finer points of editing, along with a flair for writing punchy display copy.
  • Excellent packaging skills and the ability to edit and refine writing to create a high-quality reading experience.
  • Strong knowledge of social media and a proven ability to create content across multiple platforms.
  • Strong attention to detail, superior organizational and time management skills.
  • Bilingualism (French, English).
  • College or university degree in journalism or communications (or related degree).
